Chocolate Cherry Cake

I made this on the fourth of July for my grandfather's birthday cake. I found the recipe for the cake on the Food Network website, but I decorated it myself. There are cherries and almond extract in the cake, so I topped the cake with chocolate ganache and mimicked these flavors on the outside. Placing all those sliced almonds on the outside was tedious, but luckily my sister helped me. Everybody really enjoyed the cake. My cousin asked me if I was a chef, haha. When it was time to sing happy birthday, we stuck sparklers in it and lit those.
