kind of wreckish

The above is a photo of Georg's and my room as I'm trying to stuff some clothes I rarely wear into a bin destined for my mother's basement. Since I've never moved so far away, I've always had the privilege of relatively unfettered access to all my belongings. It is hard separating the things I'll take and the things I won't, but I feel like if I start thinking about it a few weeks in advance I won't have to part with everything at once.

Two sort-of unexpected items with which I can't part: a hot pink t-shirt from Disney World and a pair of dirty white terrycloth flip flop slippers. The shirt Priscilla brought back for me from her trip to Disney World and it features a gaggle of female Disney villains that say, "It's better to look good than be good!" Oddly enough, I somehow always end up wearing it around the house when I look like shit. The slippers were a gift from my mom for Christmas one year, and when I opened them I never thought I'd use them since I am more of a barefoot-type person, but I got kind of obsessed with them for a while and wore them all the time. I even wore them out to get ice cream at Cold Stone one summer with Jamie and Georg. I spilled ice cream on myself, and along with the slippers I think everyone thought I was impaired.

Yeah, it's a weird feeling that soon I won't be able to access whatever I want when I want it. Thankfully, I have 2,000 pictures of my family and friends stored on my computer and so I can look at those whenever I want to. I am currently uploading the few CDs I have to iTunes so that if I ever have the desire to listen to those, I can.

We have so much packing to do. Of course, most of that is going into storage as I'm only taking my set of pink suitcases full of my things. I will have to do a test-run with the suitcases to make sure everything fits. Because god, I'd be horrified if on the day we leave I can't fit my Disney villain t-shirt in my suitcase and I had to leave it behind.

P.S. I have done next-to no cooking lately, besides my mom's dinner party. We are trying to spend as least money as possible and use up all the leftovers we have in the pantry. I was reading this one food blogger's post about moving and using up the odds and ends, and she created all of these unusual dishes out of her old pantry items. Yeah, for me, it's not really working out that way. For instance, last night we had a cooked ground chicken, broccoli, and soy sauce stir fry. I mixed it with a tiny bit of quinoa we had left. If you can even call it a stir fry. I just called it that so I could convince myself to eat it.
