Adventures in knitting: stingray-shaped dishcloth

My mom had wanted to teach me how to knit the entire summer, and a few weekends ago I finally let her. She decided to start with a dishcloth pattern, since no matter how badly you mess it up, it's still a functional dishcloth. The colors aren't quite consistent: we started out with green and yellow yarn, and then I ran out and had to switch to purple yarn, then blue. There are also noticeable holes in my knitwork, but you know, it doesn't matter. Finally, it was supposed to be shaped as a square, but mine turned out decidedly stingray shaped. Knitting is fun. It's something you can pick up when you're waiting for something, even if it's only for 5 minutes. I am going to start a long, skinny scarf next, I already have my yarn picked out (below). It'll be a fun thing to do while I'm on the plane. One more week!
